Interesting Family Activities to do in Dubai

During our last visit to Dubai, we have tried to visit as many family fun spots as we can. Here is a list of our favorites:

The Green Planet Dubai

Located in City Walk area. An indoor tropical forest with many interesting animals & birds to see. They have a bat cave for the brave!

Dubai Frame

located exactly between the old Dubai Deira and the developed full-of-skyscrapers part of Dubai. The unique structure of this building is meant to frame a picture of the old Dubai or the new Dubai depending on which side you are looking from. It also has a really nice museum on the history and development plans of Dubai. Last but not least, the bridge offers fantastic views and has a glass floor for extra fun.

Rain Room

Absolutely one of the best attractions is the Rain Room in Sharajh (around 30 minutes from dubai). The unique technology of this room lets you experience walking in the rain without getting wet! you can take stunning photographs as well.

If you decided to go to Sharjah and wanted to make your trip worthwhile, you might want to check out Alnoor Island. It is a nice island with beautiful lightenings, kids playground and a butterfly garden. I personally thought the tickets were a little bit overpriced for the island but maybe that is because I visited in the summer which was a huge mistake. Make sure you only go when it is cool and breezy.

Flying Cup Dubai

The flying cup dubai is a new installation that you have probably seen in the beach JBR area. It is quite fun and totally safe if you like sky views and the beach looks spectacular. It is 40 meters high and you spend around 20 minutes per ride.

Beach Fun!

The best thing about the dubai beach is that you can go all year long. An interesting and comfortable option for many people is the Dubai Ladies Club beach (exclusive to ladies and kids) so ladies wearing hijab can enjoy their total privacy. Tickets could be pricy but it is much cheaper on weekdays. The club has a salon, spa, an art gallery, restaurant and cafe and some beach activities (paddle boarding + kayaking).

Another worth note water related attraction is the Turtle Rehabilitation Lagoon at Jumeirah Al Naseem. It is nice for kids to see the turtles and the hotel has some nice restaurants to enjoy; Flamingo Room by Tashas and the Black Tap.

note: they remove turtles from the lagoon during summer time because of the extreme heat.

La Perle Show

expensive but spectacular! real Las Vegas shows experience.

Dubai Design District

There is no particular activity in the design district but the art installations are absolutely enjoyable to see and take pictures. They also do many events specially if the weather is nice. The place is also full of cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Pro tip: check the electric vehicles charging stations around the place and perhaps take a ride in one of the Uber Teslas!

Theme Parks

Dubai is competing with the world when it comes to theme parks. Some of the best well known theme parks are:

  • Dubai Parks & Resorts (Motion Gate – Bollywood Parks – Lego Land) – open space best in winter
  • IMG Worlds of Adventure – good for teenagers
  • Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi – *new not particularly in Dubai but Abu Dhabi is a close destination
  • Ferrari World Abu Dhabi – another theme park in Abu Dhabi good for adults
  • Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi – They offer ladies only nights
  • VR Park in Dubai Mall – if you are into virtual reality!
  • Aventura Parks Dubai – if you are more into nature, tree climbing and adventures

Hope you find this useful on your next trip to Dubai.

Enjoy!
