The LARGEST Zara store and other not-to-miss shops in Madrid

Spain is home to many of the world favorite brands and fashion retailers. A lot of the local brands offer their merchandise at competitive prices. So if you’re ever in Spain, get ready to spend on a wardrobe makeover ?. Below is a list of must visit stores and shopping areas in the capital, Madrid.

1- The financial district (AZCA)

Location: C. C. Castellana, Calle de Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, 79, 28003 Madrid, Spain

Nothing out of the ordinary here but it is still the perfect shopping destination. The stores are huge. They are fully stocked and well managed. Not a lot of tourists either, compared to central Madrid. So rest assure you WILL find something to buy. The area has many stores and medium size shopping mall but the two most important stores to visit are:

  • the El Corte Ingles flagship store

  • It is the main branch of the well-known department store El Corte Ingles. There are many branches across Madrid but this one carries the most comprehensive collection of designers of any large store in Spain.
  • the largest Zara store in the world ?

  • A four floor building that has almost their entire collection. I found things here that I have not seen in other Zara stores in Madrid itself let alone other countries. I also noticed that Zara prices in Spain are 30-40% less than the prices back home in Saudi Arabia. If you are a Zara fan, this is paradise.

2- Salamanca district

This is the upscale district of Madrid where luxury brands like Chanel and louis Vuitton boutiques are found. There are two main intersecting streets to checkout: Calle Serrano for international luxury boutiques & Calle Jorge Juan for local designer and chic boutiques.

3- Gran Via

The busiest street in Madrid. It is very similar to Oxford street in London. Plenty of international brands, hotels and fast food chains. The buildings on Gran via street are historical with great architecture. It is always alive and busy so beware of pickpocketing and secure your belongings.

4- Chueca

Area north of Gran Via where you will find the fashionable and more affordable boutiques of Madrid such as NAC & Ekseption Stock.

5- Las Rozas Village

This is the luxury outlet shopping village of Madrid. It is less than one hour away from central Madrid. You can take a bus or taxi to visit the outlet (you can arrange with the hotel for bus tickets).  The outlet is nice and quite stocked; but it is not as good as other luxury outlets across Europe like the ones in London and Paris. It does not have the same variety of brands.

Right next to the Las Rozas village, there is a nice restaurants and kids playing area where you can relax and enjoy a meal after all the shopping. Note that this area is outside the outlet! I do not mean the restaurants inside the village itself.

Here is the website for the location and more information. https://www.lasrozasvillage.com/en/home/
